This
travel expedition to Ethiopia with Robert "Bob" Cornuke of B.A.S.E. Institute is being held during the
Timket Festival, a
re-enactment from King David's time. Watch
as fellow Christian Ethiopian believers are baptized in
the Queen of Sheba pools and celebrate the fact
that they firmly believe they have the Ark of
the Covenant within their midst at St. Mary of
Zion in Axum. Have your hearts and cameras
ready for the warmth of the Christian Ethiopian
communities! Join us on this wonderful
Bible based trip to Ethiopia! Sites to be experienced include:
-
Rock-hewn
churches, thought to be associated with the
Knights Templar.
-
Palace of
the Queen of Sheba
-
Recently
opened new tombs and other archeological
findings
from the Axumite Kingdom period.
-
Mysterious
Tana Kirkos, thought to be the previous home to the Ark of the
Covenant.
-
St.
Mary of Zion - thought to be the current home of the
Ark of the Covenant.
-
Timket festival’s momentous, joyous ceremonies.
The prayers of fellow believers is almost
overwhelming.

Fly over of
the amazing Danankil Depression, one of the
Earth's most impressive geological sites
(weather permitting).

Jan.
14 |
Depart the Dulles Airport in Washington this
evening. |
|
Jan. 15 |
Arrive Addis Ababa and transfer to the
beautiful Sheraton Hotel, arriving at 830PM. |
|
Jan. 16 |
We visit the largest open air "Merkato"
in the world. Board your flight for
Bahir Dar
situated on Lake Tana. This
afternoon we will get together in the garden
overlooking Lake Tana for some wonderful
teachings to prepare us for the next day.
If the Blue Nile Falls are flowing, we will take
a trip out to see them. At the falls we
can cross the Blue Nile in papyrus boats.
Those who wish can take a natural shower or
swim. |

Jan.17 |
Lake Tana Today we visit several islands on Lake Tana, including Tana Kirkos
– the island believed to have held the Ark of the Covenant
for many years. Although women are not
allowed to see the altar itself and the evidence
upfront of the Holy of Holies, we have made special
arrangements with the monks to have artifacts
from the monastery brought out for viewing and
we can visit the island itself, just not the
sacred places. We will also do some
wildlife watching and look for the
hippopotamuses that sometimes circle the island,
the many birds and more.
This afternoon
we will also be visiting the islands
where the Nargo Silassie and Ura Kidane Mihret
Monasteries are located (women ARE allowed to
visit the inside of these special places). |

Timket Festival This morning we fly to Axum and relax at our hotel that is
perched above the ceremonial grounds and the
stele fields. Watch the preparations and
begin to see the fellow worshippers flow into
the valley. We will be able to watch the
excitement build minute by minute. This
festival commemorates Jesus's baptism in the
Jordan. You’ll see the Tabots (as in
tablets from the 10 commandments) be brought out
of St. Mary’s of Zion. You’ll be
part of this celebration as the bells and
trumpets blow and people praise the Lord and
dance all through the night. The dances
are from David’s time 3,000 years ago performed
at the gates of Jerusalem before the original
Ark.As a gift to
the people of Axum, our group will supply some
handmade candles for the children to use through
the night. All of the children stay up at
night to sing hymns throughout the night and our
group provides the children with wonderful
handmade candles through the night.
We will be able to hear it from our hotel as
well. |

Timket
Festival
Today the festivities continue with the sounds
of tambourines, cymbals, trumpets and stringed
instruments. Our hotel
overlooks the entire ceremony grounds.
Enjoy the viewpoint as we have teachings and
fellowship overlooking Stele Square (site of the
pre-Christian engraved granite monoliths). The celebration ends with
the Tabots being returned to St. Mary’s of Zion.Later today,
we visit the Queen of Sheba's Palace ruins and
exotic tombs of former
kings, an ancient hilltop church plus a
mysterious lion’s head dating back to the
Knights Templar. In addition we
visit the version of the "Rosetta Stone" of the Axumite
Kingdom and visit some newly uncovered
archeological sights and recently opened tombs.
After the festivities we will have an
opportunity to visit with the administrator of
St. Mary's to discuss the Ark of the Covenant
and the significance of its safe keeping. |

Jan 20 |
Lalibela Say goodbye to our new friends
and we are off for Lalibela. This "New
Jerusalem" is where the
amazing underground
monolithic churches which were hewn
completely out of rock in the 12th
century are located. We will use some interesting
teaching materials provided by Chuck Missler
that is fascinating.
The Ethiopians
believe that they play a part in the second
coming of our Lord. On our way to Lalibela, weather
and time permitting, we will fly over the
amazing Danankil Depression. Once at our
hotel, you will have amazing views of the great
rift. This brand new boutique hotel has
the most commanding views in all of Ethiopia.
It sits high on a cliff with views of unique
geological attributes coupled with dots of small
villages interspersed for a hundred miles.
You will know them from their thrashing floors. |
|
Jan 21 |
Lalibela
Ttravel out by 4WD to see some of the lesser
known churches that are hidden in the earth.
We will be able to visit some remote villages
and see this historical area from the ground. |
|
Jan 22 |
Lalibela
Visit a unique village this morning and
spend time learning about their way of life.
We then fly to Addis where we will enjoy its
best Italian restaurant for a farewell dinner
together. Transfer back to the airport for

archeological digs and new discoveries, you have found the trip of a
life time! The cradle of history is here!
Join Bob and the
crew as we retrace the trips taken by National Geographic, the History
